Introduction

A previously measured or constructed plane can be used to create a parallel plane specified at a known distance. The offset plane can be used in all PCS constructions, tolerance or other construction related activities.

Constructing a Offset Plane

To construct an Offset Plane, select from the inspection report a previously measured or constructed plane. Select the plane by left-clicking with the mouse over the feature name in the inspection report or in the graphical area. Once the plane is selected, choose [Construct→Construct an Offset Plane] from the main drop down menus. Should you have more than one item selected or none selected, a prompt will appear informing you that only 1 item, a plane, should be selected.

Enter the desired offset amount in the edit control, see figure 1. Accept the value by selecting <Ok> or the <Enter> key and a new plane will be created with an offset value you have requested. Note, that the offset value is sign sensitive. This value becomes an absolute value when a part program is executed.
