Geomet places the most common functions within easy reach of a single key on the
keyboard. This concept of using icons directly over the keys on the keyboard was first
developed in the industry by Geomet and carries a trademark - Keystroke Magic. Many
companies have utilized the keyboard concept, and continue to do so even in the world of
Windows where the use of the mouse quite often adds excess motion required to
perform even the simplest of tasks.
With Keystroke Magic, measuring a circle is no more complicated than pressing the
<z> key. Obtaining the distance between the last two features involves only a single
press of the <s> key. Compare that to locating a mouse, then navigating to some menu
or toolbar or even opening additional windows just to perform such a simple task.
By learning Keystroke Magic, you will quickly see how efficient and user friendly CMM
software can and should be.
View the Chart, here you will find a complete chart covering
all possible key access to features available in Geomet. The chart is broken down into the
various dialog boxes that can be displayed by Geomet. Only the section titled
"Main" is available under the Keystroke Magic concept. All other sections in the
chart are broken down into specific dialogs. For example, Windows uses standard
assignments such as the <Enter> key on the keyboard which maps directly to
<Ok> button on dialog boxes. Geomet does not make a effort to change the
characteristics of Windows, but attempts to integrate the normal Windows
interface.
In Windows, drop-down menus will normally assign a command a hotkey to access it
quickly eliminating the mouse. In most Windows applications, to print a file
utilizing the mouse, the user would navigate to the File drop down menu and select Print [File→Print]. Through the normal Windows interface, you can also press
<Alt + F> followed by a <p>. To further simplify the access this can
also be accomplished by just pressing <Ctrl + p>. To view other
Windows keyboard assignments, please refer to the Help section available in
Windows.
