Geomet is designed to work with a wide variety and age
of Coordinate Measuring Machines. Geomet does not have
the knowledge of the type of CMM it is connected with,
but communicates through a CMM Interface.
The CMM
Interface is unique to the type of CMM such as manual,
Direct Computer Controlled or offline. CMM Interfaces
are designed to communicate through USB, ISA, Ethernet
and ever RS-232 based on the vintage of the CMM.
It is very important that the proper CMM Interface is
selected during installation to ensure correct
operations.
Identifying your CMM Interface
To identify your CMM Interface, choose from the
main menu:
[Help→About]
In the text area, scroll down until you see
the entry "CMM Interface". On some systems that
use the PMAC Motion Controller you will also
have settings for:
CMM Interface Version
PMAC Code Version
This information is
important in assisting our technical support
group. You should also record this information
in your manual for future reference. This
information will be required when installing
Geomet either as a new installatio or as a
upgrade.
